Protect Your Child | New Online Child Performer Services Permit
Finally, California has a new permitting system which aims to protect child performers from sexual predators.
CA Assembly Bill 1660 requires persons working with artists under 18 years of age to obtain a CPS permit, which includes a background check.
Talent Agents and Studio Teachers have long been vetted through a licensing process, and this new bill does not apply to them. But it does apply to Managers, Photographers, Instructors, Publicists and to other industry people who provide services for a fee to minors.
Whenever your children work with people covered by this bill, be sure to verify the permit is in place, which you can now do online.
For more information, read the FAQ from the Dept of Industrials relations.
So happy to see this being put into place.
